Military logs are available from when the aircraft was operated by the Air National Guard. Logs are also available from 1995 to the present. Upon careful examination of the records, Book 1 of the US Army records is missing and believed to contain the original transfer information from Bell Helicopter to the US Army. Book 2 is available and contains references to transfer information from Bell Helicopter to the US Army. All maintenance and component time logs are available and complete. There has been no damage to the aircraft since 1995 and there is no evidence of damage or repair from prior use. There is no indication of any corrosion. This aircraft does not have an airworthiness certificate.
The Bell OH58 Kiowa was manufactured specifically for the military and never given an airworthiness certificate because the military does not need one. There are several distinct differences between a Bell 206B and an OH58C/Bell 206A. The OH58C has longer main rotor and tail rotor blades, a larger engine, and different RPMs. Not all parts are interchangeable. Any civil use would require some type of FAA certificate: Restricted, Experimental, or Standard, and the operator would have to comply with the restrictions of whichever certificate they obtained. To get a Standard certificate is a very lengthy and costly process. There are no assurances that the FAA will even issue a standard certificate for this type of helicopter. As a result, the general use for these types of ships are Restricted category for agricultural use, off-shore use, or the Experimental category for private use. Refer to the FAR's for more specifics.
The aircraft engine is due for a midlife inspection in approximately 55 hours.
While not in regular use, the helicopter's engine has been started and run periodically to minimize the impact of storage. The aircraft continues to be hangered while not in active service.
Additional interior photos are available by making a request using the “Ask Seller a Question” button.
This aircraft will not be sold to any foreign nationals, foreign governments, or be allowed to leave the United States in accordance with all local, State, and Federal laws and regulations.
